About us

Chris is a 3rd generation horticulturalist and landscaper, with his journey starting out as a toddler in his grandad’s vegetable plot mostly pulling out the wrong things. His passion started to show through in his teen years working with his dad earning some pocket money and learning about plants and different landscaping materials and practices. He decided to go into construction with an apprenticeship in joinery learning the intricate relationship materials can have. He then took a left-field turn and studied customer relations and become a junior retail manager specialising in client satisfaction. With any spare time, he was still working with plants and in gardens. Chris knew that his passion was to be outdoors, and he decided to go back to university and study garden design. Since graduation in 2014 Chris has gained experience through both working as a team in a practice setting as well as working for himself. His favourite plant is Verbena bonariensis and his favourite material is Grampian Granite

Claire is Arcadian’s chief organiser and client relations expert. After working behind the scenes for long time she decided to come on board in 2020. As a professional photographer she has the skills to capture our work in the best light as well as using her artistic flair to develop Chris’s design skills further. Claire’s passion for delivering excellence ensures that we deliver a fantastic service from the initial call to when we toast your completed garden with Prosecco on the completion day. Claire loves a beautiful buddleja

Despite him being retired now Chris’s dad Barry is always on hand to pass on key insights from his many years of experience. His experience has been vital for the development of Arcadian as Chris has taken inspiration from not only Barry’s knowledge but his passion for horticulture.

We are a family run business, and we are encouraging our daughter to become the 4th generation horticulturalist. We know and understand that gardens are key to a families development and we try and gain a whole households perspective when creating our gardens
